Advantages of Dental Bridges

  • Bridges restore full functionality to the teeth making speaking and eating effortless once again.
  • It helps maintain the shape of the face.
  • Having missing teeth can cause surrounding teeth to start shifting. With a bridge as a place holder, teeth remain in their proper position.
  • When a tooth is missing, we tend to use the opposite side to do all the chewing. With a bridge, the force is evenly distributed.
  • At Leesburg Family Dental, our bridges are a quick smile solution for missing teeth.

Dental Bridge FAQs

What is the difference between a dental bridge and an implant?

Dental bridges rely on the support of surrounding teeth to “bridge” the gap created by one or more missing teeth. Each bridge is completed by two dental crowns attached to anchor teeth on either side of the missing tooth. Dental crowns are attached to an entire artificial tooth that will fill in the hole. Dental implants are titanium posts surgically implanted into the gums and begin fusing with the jawbone, and once healed, an artificial dental crown is attached to the top. Dental bridges and implants are made of durable, long-lasting materials, and both are considered excellent solutions for tooth loss.

Is a dental bridge permanent?

Dental bridges are a permanent way to replace one or more missing teeth. The best way to ensure that your dental bridge lasts as long as possible is to maintain a thorough oral care routine and visit the dentist twice a year for cleanings and exams. There are no diet restrictions with dental bridges; a good rule of thumb is not to eat anything you wouldn’t eat with natural teeth. Dental bridges can last 10-15 years and sometimes longer with proper care.

How much does a dental bridge cost?

Because dental bridges are considered restorative dental treatments, most insurance plans will cover some if not all of the cost of a dental bridge. We also accept CareCredit® or Lending Club for patients who would like to utilize their monthly repayment plans. Our team at Leesburg Family Dental never wants to see patients avoid the dental work they need due to cost concerns. If you have any questions or concerns about financing your dental care, please check out our financial page or give our office a call.

Do I Qualify for a Dental Bridge?

The primary qualification for a dental bridge is to have one or more missing teeth in a row that need to be replaced. Unlike dental implants, there is no need for a dense, healthy bone to maintain a bridge. Dr. Mualla, once you’ve acquired a dental bridge as a tooth replacement, will complete a full oral health exam. If he finds no underlying oral health issues that need to be treated, the treatment for your bridge can begin.
