Our dental cleanings and exams are the most common preventative services done at our office. If there are extra tooth sensitivities or gum inflammation, we will take a deeper look at the tooth’s overall health and determine the best way to move forward. If you have any questions or would like to book an appointment, you may contact us at any time!
request appointmentHow often should you come see us?
We recommend that you maintain healthy oral habits. It would help if you came in for routine preventative exams and cleanings every six months.
If we need to address other issues, you may need to come in more often. We will use dental instruments at these cleanings to rid your teeth of any built-up plaque and food that could irritate or cause decay. Once all build-up is removed, we will then use polishing toothpaste to make your teeth shine. Following flossing, a dentist will come and examine your teeth.
During these exams, we can utilize x-rays to spot even the smallest amount of decay and use instruments to probe your teeth, looking for areas of decay. Depending on if any decay is found, we will urge you to receive restorative care as soon as possible.
Are dental cleanings and exams painful?
During your cleaning, you should feel little to no pain. We do all that we can to ensure that every cleaning and exam is comfortable for the patient.
If you have inflamed gums or sensitive teeth, you may feel slight discomfort during your treatment session. Any pain you may experience should go away shortly after your appointment is over.
With in-office, preventative dental treatments, along with excellent at-home oral care, will improve the overall health of your smile. Preventing decay will also enhance the long-term strength of your teeth to help them last a lifetime.
